What I Happen to Be Reading At the Moment

"A thirteen-year-old is a kaleidoscope of different personalities, if not in most ways a mere figment of her own imagination. At that age, what and who you are depends largely on what book you happen to be reading at the moment.”

While not 13 anymore, the desire to read almost anything and everything in order to read for fun and for experience is still around. I'm currently working on my PhD in a physical science, but I love to read and books are one of my non-science hobbies.

Ella Minnow Pea

Ella Minnow Pea - Mark Dunn Debating between three and four stars, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.

A novel in letters about a small town so superstitious that when letters start falling of the state of the town's founder (and also an originator of a very famous pangram), they start enforcing what are essentially blue laws against using them. There's the predictable informing, reactions against it, the banishment of too many people to kept town really running, the usual. The letters are from several people but the person holding the story together is Ella Minnow Pea (see what the author did there?).

The subject matter was a little too dark for it to be a purely fun/light novel, but still a good choice for a book group and I look forward to the discussion August 2!
